Dr. Doran Magri Demajo B.A, LL.D. joined Be Legal in October 2013 and is one of the firm’s partners.
Doran was conferred her Doctorate of Laws at the University of Malta in 2001 after defending her thesis entitled “The Open Registry Controversy – The Legal Debate”. In 2000 she undertook an apprenticeship with a leading Financial Services and Tax Consultancy firm. Following the successful completion of her law degree, she was offered a position with the same firm as a Corporate Lawyer, gaining extensive experience in Ship Finance, Ship Registration, Corporate Services, Contract Law and International Commercial Transactions, which position which she occupied until 2004.
In 2004 Doran established her own legal practice in the fields of civil and commercial litigation, company law and has assisted a number of international clients with applicable legal formalities required to establish their businesses in Malta, including, company structuring and incorporation, data protection issues, trademark registrations and drafting of commercial agreements.
Between 2007 and 2013, Doran occupied the position of advocate within a leading law firm focused on the areas of commercial and corporate law and financial services, wherein she was mainly responsible for ship and yacht registration and finance transactions, corporate, trust and employment law matters.
Between 2010 and 2012 Doran was a visiting lecturer in Corporate and Business Law with BPP Professional Education Malta and occasionally lectures in corporate law at seminars and conferences. Doran also contributes articles to a number of publications in her areas of expertise relating to inter alia the security over vessels and aircraft, setting up of businesses, corporate governance and employment issues.
Doran is duly certified by The Institute of Financial Services Practitioners in Malta as a Trust Law Administration practitioner.
